The Law Library of Louisiana seeks candidates for its Assistant Librarian position to provide legal research assistance to the judiciary, the Bar, and the public as a member of a small team. The team environment at the Law Library includes collaborating with other members; contributing to the team’s work product; and following established guidelines, suggesting revisions or new guidelines as necessary. Incumbent will also assist with materials selection; supervise stacks maintenance activities (shifting/shelf-reading); assist with library exhibit and legal history research; and assist with library tours. Position reports to the Head of Public Services.
Required: ALA-accredited MLIS; at least three years professional library experience and/or two years of research experience in the legal field; advanced online research skills and familiarity with both print and electronic resources; excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; ability to work effectively with a variety of people; ability to respond effectively to changing needs and priorities.
