This position serves as the liaison librarian to the Chapman University School of Pharmacy and to the graduate programs in the Crean College of Health and Behavioral Sciences (Doctor – Physical Therapy, Masters – Communication Science and Disorders, and Masters – Physician Assistant) at the Rinker Campus. Duties include all aspects of overseeing a Health Sciences library, include overseeing daily operations, reference services, interlibrary loan, collection development of print and online resources, and administrative duties (may include budgeting and the creation/maintenance of policies and procedures). This position works collaboratively with faculty from the health sciences to provide course integrated information literacy instruction in support of programmatic student learning outcomes and provides research support for faculty and students through information literacy instruction. This position may support and contribute to the health sciences curriculum by offering lectures, identifying case studies, collaborating with faculty on course related assignments, and creating library guides to promote health sciences related information. Additional duties as assigned.
Required: A.L.A. accredited M.L.S. degree. A baccalaureate degree (B.A. or B.S.) or a graduate (M.A., M.S., Ph.D.) in a health science field from an accredited institution. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse individuals at all organizational levels, both inside and outside the university. Demonstrated commitment to customer service and working in a team environment. Proven ability to exercise sound judgment and make appropriate decisions/recommendations. Commitment to professional growth and development. Demonstrated experience in health sciences reference services, library instruction, and collection development, preferably in an academic library. Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of information resources in the field of health sciences. Knowledge of current and emerging trends in health sciences. Understanding of evidence-based practices, concepts, and tools. Ability to implement outreach strategies to promote library resources and services to faculty and students in health sciences. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and coordinate work among different projects. Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills. Desired: Three to five years’ experience in academic library settings or health science related organizations. Ability to direct, supervise and evaluate the work of other employees or student employees.
