Kind of Work:
Performs professional level, specialized or administrative library work requiring the independent application of professional library techniques and procedures in managing all facets of operations for the West or East Bank Regional Library, overseeing all facets of library operations for the branch libraries and outreach services for either East or West Jefferson, or running all phases of one of the functional sections of the Library Department operations. Performs related work as required. Employee may be required to work adjusted hours, start earlier and work evenings and/or weekends as duty requires or as directed. Position requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference.
For the current position, primary work location is Technical Services Department located within the Library Administration Building. The employee will supervise all aspects of collection development within the Technical Services Collection Development Department.
Minimum Qualifications For Admission to Examination:
Possession of a Master’s Degree in Library Science from an institution accredited by the American Library Association; PLUS four (4) years of professional librarian paid work experience, including one (1) year of that experience at a supervisory level.
Kind of Examination:

The examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral panel interview or any combination thereof. Acceptable applicants will be notified of the time, date and place of any assembled testing. Applicants must supply complete and accurate information concerning their training and experience including a detailed description of their work experience, the names and addresses of all previous employers and the dates of employment. The Personnel Department reserves the right to determine the quality and quantity of education and experience claimed for credit.
