National Heritage Academies is seeking a Library Technology Specialist at Willow Charter Academy located in Lafayette, LA for the 15/16 school year.

School Leadership: You will be supported by a cohesive leadership team. Our deans avail themselves to provide teachers assistance with lesson plans, classroom management, professional development and instruction, which is done on a weekly basis.
School Culture: You may work independently in your classroom, but are a part of a grade level team that meets weekly to discuss lesson planning and ensure that the students are achieving their learning objectives. The school provides a safe and secure environment for the students and staff alike, thus creating a real community feel that parents are a part of on a daily basis.
The library technology specialist will instruct K-8 students in library and media technology classes. This position will have a strong focus on literacy and will teach up to six classes each week in a library-type setting. Other responsibilities may include writing state technology plans, managing the school library and technology resources at the school and helping to administer student testing. This position will also receive remote technology support from NHA’s information technology team at our corporate Service Center.
The library technology specialist will provide the leadership and expertise needed to ensure that the library and technology programs are an integral part of the instructional program at the school. This person will assume some of the responsibilities of leader, trainer, manager, teacher, and information specialist. We are seeking candidates that are reliable and punctual in order to provide continuity and stability in the classroom and that demonstrate moral focus and personal values to students in everyday settings. Successful candidates will be self-starters with effective classroom management skills, strong leadership capabilities, and a passion for education.
Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree ideally in Computer Science or Library Science.
Knowledge and experience in library sciences and literacy education as well as experience teaching basic computer classes for K-8 students is strongly preferred.
Candidates with an out-of-state license do not qualify for this position.
NHA prefers candidates that have experience working with at-risk students in an urban environment.
