Instructor/Assistant Professor

Description: Millersville University seeks a dynamic, collaborative, and user-focused team member for the position of Education Librarian. This 9-month faculty position will serve as liaison to departments within the College of Education and Human Services, including the Early, Middle, and Exceptional Education Department, the Department of Educational Foundations, and Wellness and Sport Sciences Department. In addition to possessing excellent instruction and communication skills, the successful candidate will have a demonstrated aptitude for integrating technology into teaching and learning. The selected candidate will demonstrate excellence in librarianship and will collaborate with faculty in the College of Education and Human Services to promote student learning and engage in outreach to the K-12 community in Central Pennsylvania.

Required: MLS or equivalent from an ALA accredited institution. Experience in an educational setting; such as K-12 or teacher education or academic library; Experience in providing library instruction and/or teaching using best practices and current trends in information literacy education and active learning strategies; Experience in providing research assistance with learners at a variety of levels; Experience with electronic information resources; Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills; Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse learners; Demonstrated ability and willingness to work cooperatively in a changing library and university environment; Evidence of professional initiative and flexibility

Successful interview and three successful background checks: Criminal Background Check (Act 34); Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151); and FBI Federal Criminal History-Fingerprinting (Act 114).

Preferred: Professional experience in a K-12 setting; Second master’s degree or doctorate/PhD; Experience with multiple formats for provision of research assistance; Evidence of a commitment to student learning commensurate with the university’s strong instructional mission.
