Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in library science or any other related field.

Desired: Experience in a library setting. Supervisory experience. Experience in classification or document retrieval systems. Educational or work experience utilizing personal computer software packages for word processing, database management, and spreadsheet applications.

Job Summary:

This is an unclassified position in the Department of Medical Library Science of the LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport. The position is in the User Access Services Section of the library. Increases in sophisticated services, knowledge management techniques, integrated library systems, and other new technology require a person who is responsible for operation of a major section within the library. The person who fills this position:

Supervises all activity during nights and weekends.

Works and cooperates with faculty, students, managers, the public, and employees at all levels in order to exchange ideas, information, and opinions which facilitate accomplishing tasks.

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Maintains a customer-oriented awareness in acknowledging and responding to needs as they occur to ensure customer satisfaction.

Working Hours:

4:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. three days a week during the normal work week

Varying schedules on Saturdays and Sundays

(two weekdays off per week)
