Job Description 
The A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University invites applications for the librarian of its Turchin Library. The Turchin librarian is responsible for planning and delivery of quality library collections and services in support of the education and research mission and objectives of the Freeman School. Collection development and service delivery requires knowledge of the academic business disciplines, faculty research, and business curricular trends. Library management requires knowledge of principles and processes necessary for effective strategic planning, budgeting, resource allocation, leadership, and coordination of people and resources. The Turchin librarian reports to the Freeman School Director of Technology and Library, has supervisory responsibility for two library associates and 6-10 student workers, and has financial responsibility for annual non-salary expenditures of approximately $355,000. 

Qualifications 
At least four years relevant library experience, preferably with experience as a business librarian at an academic institution; Experience with principles and processes for planning and providing quality business library services including: Library automation, Web content development/maintenance, and the use of computer/online databases including CRSP, IBES, WRDS, Bloomberg, and Thomson Reuters; Instruction to students and faculty in effective use of library resources; Experience with management principles and processes involved in strategic planning, budgeting, resource allocation, leadership, and coordination of people and resources; Understands the implications of evolving scholarly communications, information sources and digital media for business education and research; Evidence of effective communications and interpersonal skills.

Job Description
OUTREACH LIBRARIAN

The position of Outreach Librarian is assigned to Pay Grade 85 on the Library’s Classification and Pay Scale. This position is under the immediate supervision of the Associate Librarian of Public Services. The Outreach Librarian is responsible for day-to-day operation of services to homebound patrons. This is a regular, full-time, 40 hour per week, non-exempt position including evening and weekend hours.

Essential Functions
• Formulates goals, plans, and procedures for implementing homebound library services.
• Assists homebound patrons in locating materials and information.
• Selects books and materials for homebound patrons.
• Delivers community outreach services at local schools, senior citizen facilities, and businesses; conducts off-site library card registration; provides library materials to homebound patrons.
• Assists in maintaining the library’s equipment, and vehicles and reports maintenance issues
• Exercises sound fiscal management of outreach services budget allocations
• Makes presentations or speaks to community groups.
• Maintains records/statistics and prepares reports as directed.
• Confers with PIO in publicizing and promoting homebound services
• Coordinates volunteers and branch staff who help with homebound delivery.
• Ability to get along with patrons and co-workers.
• Keeps informed of technological and professional trends and pursues a commitment to personal growth & professional development.
• Staying informed about library services and activities.
• Responsible to perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications, Training and Education
• MLS from an accredited college or university.
• One year of progressively responsible experience in a public library.
• Must have proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint Research skills and ability to use digital and print resources.
• Effective communications skills.
• Ability to plan, initiate, develop, and evaluate special library programs and services.
• General knowledge of technology trends including mobile devices and social media.
• Must have a valid Class “C” Driver’s License prior to employment.

Physical & Additional Requirements
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
• Walking, standing, sitting, bending, stretching, reaching, climbing, stooping, twisting, and kneeling.
• Must take and pass a physical exam, lumbar x-rays, and drug screen prior to employment.
• Must pass pre-employment background check.
• Must be able to reach above shoulder height and stoop below knee level.

Salary
• 15.38 an hour and up, depending on qualifications and experience.
• Mandatory direct deposit through the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury.
