Kind of Work:
The responsibilities and duties of an Associate are varied, and they are of a para-professional nature. They include, but are not limited to, assisting in the day to day operations, assisting customers with reference and reader advisory services; planning and conducting programs; registering borrowers; issuing library cards; checking out, checking in and shelving books and other library materials; collecting fines; maintaining circulation records and other statistics; filing; typing; processing magazines, newspapers, and non-accessioned paperbacks; handling shipments of books, other library materials, supplies, etc., from library headquarters; and opening and closing the branch. Once the orientation and probationary period have been completed, an Associate may substitute for the branch librarian. The temporary Learning Commons Research Assistant will provide research, circulation and technology assistance from an active Learning Commons desk. The schedule includes nights and weekend hours. This position will be scheduled to work approx. 28 hours per week through the end of July 2013.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree; actively pursuing MLS degree from an ALA accredited program, with reference course work completed, or, Masters of Library Science Degree from an accredited library school; highly motivated and organized, with excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills; demonstrated commitment to responsive and innovative service; demonstrated ability to work in an active and user-centered environment and can juggle multiple tasks. Overview: The Virtual Researcher will provide professional research support to LAC Group clients to meet their information and knowledge needs.

Responsibilities
Answer a range of business and / or legal research requests, from quick requests for cases, legislation and basic company information to more in depth analysis of legal developments, sector analysis and competitive intelligence to support pitch documents or other marketing activities.
Organize, summaries, analyses and compile reports to support client’s research requests

Create current awareness news alerts
Curate news alerts as they are received and deliver to clients on their schedule

Extensive knowledge of key business research databases and an excellent ability to search across publicly available sources.
The ability to use and review core internal data sources.
Experience with Manzama or other current awareness systems preferred
Experience of various legal and business data sources is preferable. Legal databases may contain cases and articles (e.g. via Westlaw and Lexis Nexis), statutes and regulations and identifying recent EU legislation. Business databases may include Factiva, Dialog, Hoovers, Merger Markets and Perfect Information for example.

Professional/ Educational Qualification
A degree or post-graduate qualification in Information and Library Management, Information Science or a related subject is essential.
Excellent IT skills with the ability to fully exploit existing resources.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook and Instant Messenger.

The Head, Information Services is a supervisory librarian and part of the Library Management Team. Under the direction of the Director, Webster Library, the incumbent provides leadership in information services, taking responsibility for management of the Webster Library’s Information Services support staff unit, and assisting in the general organization and management of the different library study spaces. Responsibilities will extend also to the satellite study facility in the historic Grey Nuns site, opening Fall 2014.

The successful candidate will receive a probationary tenure-track position at Concordia University, along with a 3-year supervisory appointment to the role of Head, Information Services. The 3-year supervisory appointment is renewable. Upon successful completion of probation, the incumbent continues to hold a librarian position at Concordia University, whether or not the supervisory appointment is renewed.

Librarians are members of the Concordia University Faculty Association (CUFA). Responsibilities include research, publication and service to meet requirements for tenure and promotion.

Primary Tasks

Ensures a high level of appropriate information services reflecting best practices are provided to library users.

Qualifications

Graduate degree from a library school accredited by the American Library Association, or approved equivalent education and training acceptable for membership in the Corporation of Professional Librarians of Québec.

Professional experience in an academic library or equivalent.

Two years of management and supervisory experience; this may include experience in supervision of staff, management of projects, leadership of working groups, staff training or other experience which demonstrates the capacity for managing programs and resources.

The ability to plan, organize, and coordinate operations and services. Ability to motivate and engage staff.

General Function
The University of Tennessee is engaged in a strategy to recruit a larger freshman class, to improve retention of students from first to second year, and promote graduation in four years. The Student Success Librarian will help the Libraries implement and expand instruction and academic engagement programs aimed at assisting first-year and other lower division undergraduate students in learning the tools of scholarship while adjusting to college life. The Student Success Librarian will strengthen library partnerships with First Year Studies, the Student Success Center, and the Division of Student Life to enhance the support system for undergraduate students at The University of Tennessee.

Specific Duties
· Serves as Liaison to First Year Studies, Student Success Center, and Division of Student Life
· Designs, delivers, and assesses instruction for First Year Studies and other undergraduate programs to support learning and engagement in the University
· Offers classes, consultations, orientations, and tours in support of the first year and general education curriculum
